The Venable Three is just us: Stephen, Karli and Noah. In the summer of 2003, Stephen and I met here at the House of Prayer while we were working on one of IHOP’s annual conferences together. In many ways, it was love at first sight. We went to dinner with a group of friends one night in June and from that point forward, except for only one or two times, we have literally been together every day since. Just five months after that first encounter, we were engaged. And three months after that, we were married at sunset in the mountains of Colorado. That night was one of the most powerful and Christ-centered moments of both our lives. We vowed before our closest friends and family to love Jesus and to love each other come what may – on mountaintops like that night and in valleys, many of which we have already known – until the day we see His face.
The verse printed on our wedding programs and sovereignly written over our life together was John 1:14 above concerning Jesus, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Three wonderful years later, we met our little miracle… a 7 pound little boy named Noah Elias Venable, who from day one left us beside ourselves with wonder, joy, and unparalleled love.
Together we have devoted our hearts and our lives to loving Jesus through the ministry of night and day prayer and worship and the preaching and teaching of His Word for all our days. We have been on the leadership staff at the International House of Prayer Missions Base in Kansas City for eight years. In addition, Stephen serves as the Academic Dean at the Forerunner School of Ministry and teaches several Bible courses including The Life of Christ in the Gospels, Mystical Life of Communion, Christology II, The Theology of Night and Day Prayer & Worship, and Introduction to Biblical Doctrine. We also lead the Core Curriculum (first two years at the Bible School) and teach a weekly Practicum covering basic Christian doctrine and spiritual disciplines together at the School of Ministry.
